Light Dilemma

My climbing partner started volunteering at the local Humane Society. Yesterday when we were climbing, she was trying to convince me I needed another animal. I explained why I didn't, but man, hearing the stories she had to tell made me wish I did. There are so many animals who need a home out there.

I have a Christmas tree dilemma and want some input. We've always had multi-colored lights on the tree. But with hubby on crutches I thought we might try an artificial one this year. Next year we could put it in front of an arched window up in the playroom and go back to a real tree. But the ones on 50% off at Lowes all have white lights. I don't know that I can justify paying full price for the same tree just to get multi-colored lights when I suppose I could always add some strands of color if I had to. Hubby says at that price white lights are fine. Any thoughts?

I like non-blinking white lights on trees. If they have to blink then the multi-colored ones are the best.

I won't let Hubs use the colored lights. I LOVE the look of the white lights on the green tree.

Go for white. You might really like it.

If you want another animal, I have a cat in need of a good home....

White lights are okay but I prefer color. Just to be contrary. *g* On the other hand, 50% off IS a good deal.

Practical me says go for the white - especially since you're going back to a real tree next year. With all the ornaments or tinsel, I don't think you'd mind white. I love lights that blink and found some that have 5 different types of blink plus random.

I brought in a feral cat that looks somewhat like the one in the first pic 12 years ago. I currently have 6 cats and that's why I don't work at a shelter lol.

I love colored lights... Maybe buy the cheaper tree and just string colored lights on it as well That looks nice.
Or buy a tree without lights and string colored ones on? (No idea what that does for the cost...) And I love the first lolcat pic!

I couldn't work at an Animal Shelter, I just want to take them all home. *sigh*
As for the tree, we use white lights, but for 50% off I say go with the white lights and pop a strand of color on there if that's what you prefer.

Have a fabulous day!

Anonymous above was hubby! I've been gone all morning so had me read your comments!

Practicality won out. I just couldn't see spending more when I already have multi-colored lights. I got one of the GE Just Cut Trees. A 7.5 foot Franklin Frasier Fir. It has 1000 clear lights on it. The 9 foot one would have worked better in our playroom since it's got a vaulted ceiling, but that would be too big for our great room so I went with the shorter one. Man, is that box heavy. A guy, just walking outside Lowe's who turns out works for them, helped me when the Lowe's person never came out like he said he would. But Finn and I had a heck of a time trying to get it into the house! We'll see how set-up goes. Right now, the book awaits me!

Thanks so much for all your comments. And whoever else said they couldn't work in an animal shelter... I couldn't either. I told my climbing partner not to tell me anymore animal stories cause my heart just couldn't take it.

I like the white lights on a tree and it is so much easier when you don't have to put the lights on. Just throw on some ornamints and you are good to go.

I would have done exactly the same thing. I'm practical, and lights can always be added later.

Hope you enjoy the new tree!

Well you got what I would have done lol, In this case 50% less def is a selling point.

I couldnt work in a shelter either. I volunteered for a long time but it was just so hard. I have enough pets as it is without being tempted to take home anyone else lol.
