Party

It's been crazy around here. I almost feel as if there's a party, but I'm working it, not a guest.

The two oldest kidlets had their play last night. It was so funny. All the kids did great.

My eight year old nephew is staying with us for a few days and we're having fun with him.

I'm still working on my To Do list. I really want the majority of the craft stuff done for next week done this weekend so I don't have to worry about it during the week. I want to get the house in tip-top shape then.

Hope you're having a nice Friday!

Hungry

I saw this picture and could totally relate. I realized I've yet to eat breakfast!

My hubby is doing the Master Cleanse right now. That's the maple syrup, lemons and cayenne pepper concoction. He wanted me to do it, but I've got too much going on. The two older kidlets are in a drama production this week. There is an all-star swimming meet this weekend. I have to prepare way too many crafts for a meeting next Friday. I need to be all there in the head if you know what I mean.

A friend has done the cleanse, and I would like to give it a try one of these days. Just need to find a time when I don't have a lot going on! That might be a little tough!

Have you ever done a cleanse or a multi-day fast? If so, how was it?

I feel like a kitty in a fortress! I've got myself surrounded so I can get done what needs to be done. I'm on a mission to get things done around here and my To Do list cleared!

Sunday Schedule

My RITA books arrived. Eight of them. I was hoping to get three different categories. I only got two and of those seven books were from one category and one from another. Oh, well...

I finished one yesterday. Today I hope to get another read. I'll also be cleaning, sorting socks and preparing crafts for our next girls' club meeting. Oh, and I'll be watching the Jets play. They are hubby's fave team. I sure hope they win!

What are you doing today?

We've got a swim championship meet to attend today! I hope you stay dry if you've got the kind of weather we've had lately.

Thanks for the well-wishes. I caught a cold, but really I've just been sad about the death of a cousin on Thursday and its effect on my aunt and uncle. They live in Georgia, and there's not much I can do from the other side of the country. My mom flew back there to be with them.

Hope you have a great Saturday!

LOL Scrabble

Make sure you click on the picture to see the words on the board. Definitely LOL worthy! I was going to blog about our time at the Rose City Classic dog show yesterday, but I'll save that for later. I'm not feeling all that well this morning. I hope you have a fun Friday!

Grrr!

I woke to three cats staring at me. The food bowl was empty. They expected me to get up right that moment and feed them. I usually do, but not this morning.

I guess they forgot one of them used my pillow for a litter box yesterday. I don't know if they were mad at me for being gone all day or because my oldest forgot to clean their litter boxes or if they didn't like Yoda napping on the pillow.

I didn't discover it until I was about to go to sleep and smelled something horrible on the bed. This was my favorite pillow in the whole world. I've had it for years. It's the only pillow that's comfortable and doesn't give me a sore neck. Needless to say, I was not happy.

Instead of feeding them like I do every morning, I went back to sleep. They could wait. When I woke up again, the three were still there. But this time they looked a little anxious. Maybe they won't take me for granted as much. But then again, their cats. Of course, they will.

Where are my keys?

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

I lose my keys at least once a day. Hubby tells me I should put them in the same place every time I get home. I usually do. Except for the times my hands are full of grocery bags or books or other stuff and I need to set it all down right inside the door, or on the kitchen island or the counter before I drop it. The big probably is even when I put them in the same spot everyday, the keys still disappear.

The kidlets use them when they forgot something in the minivan or need to get the mail out of the box. Sometimes the keys go where they should, sometimes not.

I never thought one of my four cats could be a culprit in my missing key dilemma until this LOLcat, but that could explain a why my keys have ended up in a couple really strange places.

What I really need is one of those clapping keychains. That way I can find the keys whenever I need them without any effort. And not end up being late because I couldn't find my keys! Hubby gets tired taking keys off his key ring for me to use.

Do you lose your keys?

The tree is still up. I managed to get the laundry folded, but that was it. I forgot until looking at my calendar that I'd scheduled appointments for the kidlets on Monday. Of course, I would do that. First day after deadline. Holiday. Perfect time. Except for still haven't my Christmas tree up!

I'm hoping today I can get it down. Or at least start removing the decorations!

My kitties don't like that deadline time is over. They don't understand why I'm no longer upstairs with them all the time. Not much I can do about that, but they did love the bed covered with folded clothes yesterday. Lots of nap space between the stacks of clothing!

We'll I'd better get busy. The Christmas tree is waiting!

Hope you have a great day!

This reminds me of Yoda sleeping on my computer speakers. It sure doesn't look comfortable, but he's content!

The revisions are finished and off. Now I can finally get my Christmas tree and decorations down. Yes, they are still up. We usually take everything down after Epiphany or the Sunday after it, but not this year with the revisions due. At least hubby got the lights outside put away so we wouldn't annoy the neighbors!

I'm tired, but feel good. I like how the book came out. I just wish my To Do list hadn't doubled over since Christmastime!

Scarce

My revised manuscript has to be sent off tonight so it's there when my editor gets into her office Monday morning. Needless to say I've been focused on writing and family the past few days. Not a lot of time for being on-line and blogging.

I have all the revisions typed in so will now read through the entire manuscript in one sitting, something I never had a chance to do when I sent in the complete on December 1st.

Talk to you on Monday!

Revisions

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

My revisions are starting to chase me like the little monster above. Everywhere I turn, I can feel them breathing down my neck. I'm going to spend all of today pounding them out and see how far I can get. I just want to be done so I can write something new!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for my daughter. She had a great day turning seven. She loves her American Girl doll, Chrissa. She got to go out to eat for dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory, visit Build-A-Bear and have ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.

I had to laugh at Tori's comment on yesterday's post. Why? We haven't known each other seven years, more like fourteen going on fifteen! Scary, isn't it? I joined an on-line community she belonged to after I got married in 1995. Way back before I had selling any books or having kidlets or blogging!

Have a good day! I'm going to get to work!

My youngest turns seven today. That sounds so old!

She's very excited about being seven. She thinks it sounds old, too. And she also says she's old enough for an American Girl doll.

All I know is I'm in denial that today is her seventh birthday.

Hope you have a great day!

Buckling down

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

I have been so tired. That's because I've been way too busy. I managed to get all the blankets and other craft stuff done for Fridays meetings. The girls seemed to really enjoy both activities. Me? I'm just happy to put away my roller cutter until I have to prepare for the March meeting!

This weekend was total craziness. Two days of Irish dance practice and workshops. A swim meet and a practice. A girls' vocation dinner that my hubby was in charge of putting on. Squeeze in Mass and sleep time and we had to cut a couple of things that we had planned to do out of the schedule.

Even though I got extra sleep last night, I still feel like the LOLcats above. Of course, my revisions are due in one week. Fortunately, I've been squeezing in writing time when I can. This week I'll buckle down and get it done.

How was your weekend and what does your week look like?

Praying for Kevin Pearce

This is my new profile pic on Facebook and Twitter. I got it from the Burton website. That's Burton Snowboards.

You're probably thinking, huh? I know. I don't really ride. I'm a skier. I've snowboarded exactly once in my life and was so bruised and sore I put frozen vegetables (the only thing I could find in the freezer of the condo we were staying at) on my legs to keep them from hurting so badly. But it's my way of supporting professional snowboarder Kevin Pearce who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury on New Years Eve while training for the Olympic trails at a halfpipe at Park City Mountain Resort. But if getting on a board again would help him even a tiny bit, I'd gladly give it another go in spite of the falls, humiliation and bruises I suffered at Park City West so many years ago!

I'm not sure why Kevin and his family has touched my heart so much. Maybe it's because I know my nine year old son Finn is counting the days until I give his trading in his skis for a snowboard the thumbs up. He still has to master skiing with poles first, but we both know the day is coming closer. He loves all things snowboarding whether it's clothing or video games.

It could be because of the manuscript set on Mount Hood that I'm currently revising. My hero, Sean Hughes, is a snowboard manufacturer. My heroine, Zoe Carrington, snowboards.

It also might be because of hitting my head when I fell skiing at Timberline on Memorial Day. I still don't remember doing that so I know the injury could have been a lot worse, especially if I hadn't been wearing a helmet. Kevin was wearing a helmet, too, but hit hit the edge of the halfpipe above his eye. There but for the grace of God, go I.

It could just be the kid is not only amazingly talented, but seems really, really nice. He's got a great smile, and his personality shines through in the interviews I've seen.

There's a Facebook page where people can offer prayers and support. Just reading it is so inspirational. Every day new fans join, all sending their love to Kevin and his family. You should check it out. There are also pics of his "Frends", what a group of snowboarders who banded together call themselves, who are in Mammoth, CA competing for spots on the Olympic snowboarding team.

Snowboarder Ellery Hollingsworth has a sticker on her board that says "Pearce would have won." I pray for the day we see Kevin win, during his recovery and, if I might toss out the perfect happily ever after ending this romance writer would give him, at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Happy Epiphany

funny pictures of cats with captions

This is Chaos' life with four cats. But my poor doggy is adapting well. I found her early this morning curled up on my oldest's furry bean bag. I guess that's where she ends up at night once the cats start jumping on the bed after we fall asleep.

The new year has already gotten crazy busy this week. The girls' group I do the crafts for starts up on Friday which means I've been preparing fleece blankets for them to tie and donate for a homeless shelter. My hands hurt from all the cutting. Only four more to go though. Almost done. I've also been trying to get the revisions done. Plus getting back into the kidlet routine. Don't know about you, but I already need another vacation.

Today is Epiphany, the feast day celebrating the three magi coming to visit Jesus. The kidlets will open the last three gifts under the Christmas tree. In my Atrium today, we'll have a big celebration. Tomorrow (more likely this weekend) I'll start taking down the tree and decorations. So sad to see Christmas come to an end.

What's going on in your world?

First Monday

I did a 30 minute workout this morning! First step, right? The No S Diet really starts today since you can eat what you want on days that start with S! I'm doing much better with the writing resolution. A deadline will do that for you!

Yoda has a new favorite napping place. My keyboard. I will take pics for you. It's cute, yet, but annoying, too. If I can position him right, it's okay. But if he stretches or moves I get typos or text deleted. Not fun! I tried moving him, but he comes right back. Sigh... What we put up with for our animals!

Hope this first Monday of 2010 goes great for you! I'm looking forward to it.

Welcome to 2010!

funny pictures of cats with captions

Hope everyone is having a Happy New Year! I was so happy 2009 was over I forgot all about blogging yesterday! We went to Mass (holy day of obligation), watched the Rose Parade, football games and I revised 94 pages of my manuscript. The easy part of the revisions. They will get much harder from now on.

I have come up with a few resolutions. During Mass, our priest told us that in spite of what many detractors say making resolutions or setting goals for the new year is necessary and a very good thing. Last year everything was pretty general. That didn't work so well. This year I'm getting much more specific:

1) Lose weight. 10 pounds is absolutely required. 15 pounds would be perfect. I'm still trying to decide if the No S Diet will be enough.

2) Workout. 3 days a week of doing something physical is absolutely required. 5 days is really what I really need.

3) Write. 5 days a week no matter what. This can be new writing or revising. I just have to do something to stay in the writing groove.

I also have some personal/family ones that I won't bore you with. They are less specific (i.e. no way to quantify.)

Do you have an goals or resolutions for the new year?
