Snow-Kissed Reunion

My eHarlequin free online-read is now available.  The first chapter of Snow-Kissed Reunion went up yesterday.  You can find it here as well as links to the other chapters and when they'll be posted.

This story is set on Mount Hood in the fictional town of Hood Hamlet, the same setting as my November 2008 release, Rescued by the Magic of Christmas. This is also the setting of my November 2010 release, Christmas Magic on the Mountain.  Snow-Kissed Reunion features characters from both stories, but is still a stand-alone romance.

The heroine and hero are both snowboarders.  What happened to Olympic hopeful Kevin Pearce inspired the story only this time it was my heroine who was injured trying to qualify for the 2006 games.

If you want to post a comment about the story on eHarlequin, you can go here.  I'm checking in a couple times during the day to respond there.  Or you can post here on the blog, too!

Switching Gears

I've been hard at work on my new proposal that features a heroine who first appeared in my Silhouette Romance If the Ring Fits... and also appears in my 2/11 Harlequin Romance Expecting: Royal Twins! The other day I was driving and heard the perfect song for her. Take a listen:

White Flag by Dido is song #2 on my book soundtrack. I'm so thankful I have a list with a couple of songs on it because I was just offered the opportunity to write an eight chapter eHarlequin on-line read. That means, I have to switch gears. The princess proposal goes on hold for a short time while I write the on-line read.

The only on-line read I've done was back in 2004. It was called Husband Material.  It was part of a four story continuity. This time the story is all mine. It will be set in Hood Hamlet on Mount Hood and act as a lead-in to my upcoming 11/10 Christmas Magic on the Mountain.. It shares the same setting as my 11/08 Rescued by the Magic of Christmas.

I know who the heroine will be. I had something in the upcoming book that would work perfectly for this! Amazing when that happens.

Right now I'm trying to figure out who the hero is and the plot. With only 10,000 words, I think they'll need to have known each other in some capacity before the story begins. But how? That's the question.

Wish me luck writing this short sequel to one book and prequel to another!

Husband Material

I noticed a spike in my blog traffic yesterday, so I checked my referrals. The typical ones for Crossfit (Elizabeth, Filthy Fifty) and "Ben Barnes smoking" were there. But I was surprised to see "Husband Material by Melissa McClone" there, too.

My first thought was hmmm, I never wrote a book by that title, and then I remembered! Not a book. An online serial read! But that had been a few years ago. Why would it be coming up now?

So I went to my beloved google. Turns out Mills & Boon has re-released the story on their website! Though I'm wondering why my google alerts never picked it up. Click here if you never caught Husband Material the first time around. Only chapter one is out right now. If I remember correctly, there are eight chapters.

Anyway, I'm so glad the story is out there again. The setting is New York City. It's a boss-assistant romance and my heroine is, well, not exactly thin. She enjoys food, especially chocolate-iced donuts with sprinkles for breakfast! The hero prefers maple bars. Needless to say, I had fun writing the story and eating lots of donuts for research.

What's your favorite kind of donut? Bet you can guess mine!
