Spring Break Day 1 - The Hell Drive
Ever hear about someone's vacation going badly and then it kept getting worse? Well, that's how I feel right now. How bad has the first day been?
I just got home from the ER. My niece, who we thought had been car sick (she forgot that she takes Dramamine when going on long rides), was still throwing up when hubby took me to the hospital.
Can we have a do-over please?
I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. I'm not sure I want to know.
Hope all is well where you are!

Quiet
For the first time since Friday, I am alone. All three kids went back to school today. Whether they make it through the entire day, remains to be seen, but they've been fever free for two days. Yesterday, they didn't need naps so I said a little prayer and sent them off.
Needless to say, things have been a little crazy around here. My priority was the kids. I managed to get a little writing done, but not near what I should so today will be catch-up day.
The birthday on Monday turned out really well! We had a fun goodie bag hunt (11 bags full of items from the Dollar Tree hidden all over the downstairs by Rose's siblings), Subway for lunch and Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Love that you can get take-out from almost everywhere now! We had chocolate cupcakes for dessert.
And before I get to work, I wanted to leave you with this performance by Jason Brown at this weekend's US National Figure Skating Championships. If you haven't seen this, it's worth a watch. Amazing!
Hope you enjoy your Wednesday. I plan to make the most of mine!

Back to Normal...
I hope things are getting back to normal around here. My daughter, who had shoulder surgery on Tuesday, is heading back to school today. My sick cat Spirit, who I spent 7 hours with yesterday at the emergency vet after two vet visits on Friday, now has medication to help her feel better. My novella that I turned in on Monday was accepted, too!
Of course, Beauty has discovered Sanchez. Who is Sanchez? A betta given to Mackenna by a friend and named after NY Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez who had the same shoulder surgery as my daughter on the same day. If you remember, Beauty was intent on killing Mackenna's goldfish Butler this summer. Yesterday we found Beauty on the dresser staring into Sanchez's bowl. Let's hope the door to the room remains closed or it won't be pretty.
So given this was happening in August, I guess things are back to normal.
As for me, I'm jumping back into a project I'd put on hold to write the Christmas novella! I can't wait and it lets me stay right next to Spirit in case she needs anything.

Sick
I have not been feeling this week. Something is going around and my youngest brought it home. A head cold that just hangs on. Needless to say, I've been writing and taking it easy. But I saw this clip this morning and wanted to share. Long, but worth the time if you want a smile or laugh. Enjoy!
Hope you're well and stay healthy.

One of those weeks...
Not only am I crazy busy this week, I'm not feeling well. I was hoping my home remedies would work, but they aren't so I'll call the doctor in the morning. Will be back once I'm feeling better.
Hope all is well where you are!

Monday, no Tuesday
This LOLcat featuring the Grumpy Cat made me smile this morning. A nice way to start my day. Tuesday. Not Monday. I'm going to have to keep reminding myself that today. I have a feeling my week will be all messed up because of the holiday!
Our Memorial Day didn't quite turn out the way we planned. We ended up missing the event we were planning to attend so we could take the youngest kidlet to Urgent Care. She was one of the sickies last week but we thought she was on her way to being 100%. Nope! But now that she's on medicine, she's feeling much better.
How was your weekend?

My Turn
I caught whatever he had. My throat is burning. Swallowing hurts. Head pounding.
The kid spent three days on the couch or in bed, sleeping much of the time. Unfortunately, I don't have time for that.
Sigh...
I think there should be some automatic immunity given to someone caring for the sick. Too bad the germs don't agree.
I'm heading back to bed once I know my oldest is ready and off to school.
Hope you're feeling well!

Not Again...
But I'm on deadline and this happens every single time, even when I make myself go to bed before midnight each night. Guess it's part of my "writing process." I think I'll see if I can change that part.
I'm also going back on Whole 30 starting tomorrow. Figured Lent would be a good time to do it again!
Are you giving anything up?

Aack!
Needless to say, the ALA blog and book giveaway will have to wait.
I must write in case whatever he's got gets worse. I'm praying he can shake whatever this is fast! I love the man but he's a horrible patient. When I don't feel well, I want to be left alone. When he's sick he wants me at his beck and call. I usually get a good workout going up and down the stairs on those days!
Don't forget to post a comment. The winner of January's blog contest will be announced tomorrow.
Take care!

No Pawticipate
I think the stress of last week then being at a dog show for four days caught up to me. A little rest and I should be good as new! At least I hope so!
Hope you are well!

Calling in dead
I'm recycling the above LOLcat from 2010 because it just fits today. I'm beyond sick. I never really shook that head cold I got the last week in September, but something hit me last week that made me ask for an extension (book is now due on Thursday) and knocked me flat. Whatever it is has only gotten worse over the weekend so I will be heading to urgent care this morning.
Update: I have bronchitis and a sinus infection. A good thing I went in!
Upcoming this week on the blog as soon as I feel a little better... Norwegian Elkhound puppy pics. They are Chaos' grandsons and the cutest things! They just turned 3 weeks old.
Okay, this is about all the typing I can manage right now. Have a great day.

Tuesday Blahs
I've been putting drops in a kitty's ears and giving her antibiotics. She ended up with a very bad, painful ear infection, but is improving every day. I learned to give a cat a shot, something I'd never done before. But I'm very glad she's finished with those and now on pill form. Though that has it's challenges too.
I woke up feeling like I got hit by a train. I was feeling this way yesterday so didn't do a lot except write and computer stuff—things I could do while in bed. I think I must of caught some kind of bug while camping. Everything hurts and I have a nose that can't decide if it wants to run or bleed and a headache. Must get better since I want to have a rough draft of my complete manuscript done by Labor Day and I also have to go to a dog show this weekend.
Anyone having Olympic withdrawals? If so, click on this link to go to Funny or Die and watch a video of an Irish Olympic Sailing Commentator. This made the rounds last week, but worth another view if only to add some laughter to your day. Word of warning: there are some curse words used so not something I'd view with kids around!
Enjoy your Tuesday!

May Contest Winner!
This LOLcat reminds me of Beauty. Especially now that I'm in revision mode and putting everything under the microscope! Before I get back to work though, it's contest time.
The first of June means it's time to pick the monthly winner of a $10 gift card for either Amazon or Barnes & Noble (winner's choice.) The random number generator came up with this...
Here are your random numbers:
79
Timestamp: 2012-06-01 15:24:06 UTC
The winner is Jennifer Shirk who commented on my post Man On A Stick. Congrats! Jennifer please contact me using the menu bar above. I'll need your email address and whether you want an Amazon or BN.com gift card. Thanks to everyone who entered. You have seven days to contact me or I'll pick another winner.
The June contest begins today. Each blog comment enters you in the giveaway for a $10 gift card to either Amazon or BN. Check back on July 1st (or the 2nd depending on how busy I get!) to see if you've won.
Not much else to say. Still fighting whatever I caught. Hubby is off with the two youngest kidlets for a weekend of camping and a swim meet. So it's just me and my 14 year old for the next three days. Well, and the dog and cats!
Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Feed me
see more
My cats felt only slightly neglected yesterday. That happened at dinnertime when the kidlets had started the dishwasher late and their were no bowls so they could be fed. You'd think the world was coming to an end. They were in a panic about being fed. And the family wonders why I also feed them a small lunch each day!
Of course, I was feeling so awful I completely forgot about dinner for the kidlets. We'd skipped everything yesterday. I just wasn't feeling up to driving them around. But at seven o'clock I realized I hadn't even considered dinner. I wasn't up for cooking so I ordered pizza, salad and cheese sticks. The map on the pizza place's website said we weren't in the delivery zone, but I called to double check. Thankfully we were. Of course it took another hour-plus for dinner to arrive, but at least we have enough leftovers for lunch today.
I plan on resting today and doing a little revising, too. And that's it. Hubby is coming home this morning. I can't wait to see him!
Hope you have a nice day!

Resting More
Ice cream makes me happy! And right now, I'm guessing it's something that might make my sore throat feel a little better.
It never fails. Survive an intense deadline and get sick the next day. Okay, a sore throat does not equal sick. But both hubby and son have gone through this recently and that was the first sign, so if it's the same thing I know how it'll go. I intend to take it so easy today, even more than I have been doing since the book was submitted, and try to nip this in the bud.
Don't forget there are still two days to enter my $10 gift card giveaway to either Amazon or BN. Just post a comment here on the blog and check back on June 1st to see if you won. Dru, who is a frequent commenter here, followed my link to TBR where I was guest blogging last week and won the $5 Amazon gift card there! Thanks to everyone who posted at both my guest blogging spots this month!
Okay, back to bed!
You know what I'll be doing today. What will you be doing?

Another day of rest...
see more Lolcats and funny pictures
I don't feel quite as bad as yesterday, but am still taking it easy and spending another day in bed. My day will consist of sleeping and writing. Right now the dog is with me. Yesterday, I sounded so awful not even the cats would come close.
Hubby is taking my shift in our youngest's class this morning. I homeschool, but the kidlets attend classes two days a week at a school. I'll be curious to hear what he has to say since he's been so busy and traveling so much he hasn't been as involved this school year or spent much time at the new facility.
Okay, I'm getting tired. Hope everyone is healthy where you are!

Jack the Cat is Back
see more Lolcats and funny pictures
I hope to spend my day like the kitty above. Minus the funny hate, that is!
I'm late posting this morning because I'm so sick, even worse then yesterday. Rose, our youngest, who was the only healthy one in the house complained of a sore throat. Not good. That's how it starts.
But I had to tell you the good news I found out yesterday evening.
The missing since August 25th cat who I've blogged about was found last night in the Custom's room at JFK last night! American Airlines posted a note about it on their Facebook page.
Jack was taken to a vet where his microchip was scanned. It was confirmed to be Jack and his owner notified! So exciting for all of us "Friends of Jack" (FOJ) who have been following the story via his Facebook page!
Two women, Bonnie and Angela, who've been part of the group on the ground at JFK looking for him, went to the 24 hour vet last night to see Jack (and meet him for the first time.) They said he was dehydrated and dirty, but had beautiful eyes! It's pretty amazing how a group of strangers brought together by a Facebook page has been looking for this cat. Jack's owner Karen lives in Los Angeles and her sister Mary Beth, who runs the Facebook page, lives in Florida. Yet all these people spent weeks helping on-site at JFK looking for Jack and trying to get the word out about him. For those FOJ's who lived far away, they emailed, called and faxed fliers to make sure local businesses knew about him. Very cool!
Here's an article from the NY Post about Jack! He fell through the ceiling into the Customs office and that's how he was found.
Hope you have a nice Wednesday. I plan to spend mine in bed which is exactly where I spent my Tuesday, too.
