Rescue Me

I wish someone would come rescue me right now! And give me what I need to feel 100% better.
My back to normal day yesterday ended up being not so normal. Around 11 o'clock I felt like I'd been hit by a bullet train. I was shaking and so cold I had to put on my ski jacket inside. Needless to say, hubby sent me straight to bed. I had to cancel my class and tell hubby all the things that needed to be done. Then I crashed. I ate a little lunch, then crashed again until 7:00 pm.
It was so funny because hubby was making notes about influenza A vs. B. I think he was worried I might have caught what's going around. I assured him that I didn't because my temperature was even lower than normal! But it was sweet of him to be so concerned and he took such good care of me with tea and dinner and other stuff. When I woke up, he'd added more blankets on the bed too!
I'm feeling a little better, but the headache is back so I doubt I'll get any writing done tonight. Plus I just realized I forgot to buy fruit for a tea we're going to tomorrow which means a trip to the grocery store. Argh! How could I forget that!
Anyway, I hope all of you are healthy and happy!

Back to normal

Smalls has decided rubs are worth putting up with Chaos so last night the two were within two feet of each other with no back arching or hissing! Definite progress!
Yesterday was all about the kidlets. Well, one kidlet in particular.
His day started with chocolate chip pancakes. Lunch was at El Pollo Loco. After his chess and computer classes, he came home and watched Star Wars. His baseball game was cancelled due to the weather and playing field conditions so we ended up at Chuck E Cheese's for dinner and lots of video games, rides and all the other stuff they have there. After that, we headed home where he opened presents and had cake. A pretty good day for a nine year old.
Needless to say nothing writing wise got done. I figured it wouldn't especially because after he went to bed, I knew I had to run to the grocery store. Plus I needed the break and time with the kidlets.
Now it's back to work. Or will be once they are in bed tonight! Post-deadline isn't always the most productive for me, but it'll be nice not to be freaking out over my output until mid-June hits!
Today is pretty busy. Wednesday's usually are, but I plan to write tonight! What are you up to?

Another Birthday

Today Mackenna's little brother turns nine. Needless to say, as soon as I emailed my proposal yesterday (yes, I finished it and even earlier than expected!) I had to run around buying my son birthday gifts. Of course, I couldn't find anything he wanted. I want to four different stores. Talk about frustrating.
But I finally managed to find a couple of things, including one of his really wanted to have items. I had to call hubby and ask him to call stores for me. Driving around in the rain was taking way too long. He found finally found a store. I was so excited though I forgot to get chocolate frosting so will have to do that this morning. Finn asked for a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.
Not sure what the day will be like. It's pretty booked. He has a baseball game tonight, too, so not sure how big a celebration we'll have, but he does get a party on Sunday with a few of his friends.

I went back to my April 2008 archives to read about us getting Chaos last year. Yes, we've had her over a year now. Guess what? I had a proposal due on April 27th last year! I was in a panic then. Funny how that never changes!

Proposal Time
I've managed to whip the first 34 pages of my proposal into shape. I also revised the synopsis once again since I've made some changes in the first two chapters. I'm happy with the writing I've done this week even if it's gone slow and I have deleted so much of what I already had.
All that remains is Chapter 3. Pretty much all of Chapter 3. Gulp! Oh, well... A good thing I work well under pressure.

Struggling

Writing continues to be a bit of a struggle. Maybe I need a sidekick like Pookie to help me out. Last night I had to settle for chocolate chip cookies.
I'm sure it'll come together. With a deadline looming, I really have no choice!

The Week Ahead....

Insert proposal for shiny above and that's what's demanding my attention this week! My proposal for The Best Man and The Bride (working title) is due in one week. I'm behind, nothing new there, so I really have to focus. I'll try to post something each day in addition to the Crossfit Challenge, but if I don't it's because it's a day where my writing time is very limited.
Yesterday, the kidlets performed at the annual Irish dance recital their studio puts on. It was great. Usually we have family and friends with us, but it was just hubby and I. We sat with another couple whose daughter was dancing a two-hand with Rose. When the two girls walked out, the two smallest of all the dancers on stage, my heart panged. Rose seems so big to me because she's really grown a lot this year, but I realized just how little she still is! And boy, were the two of them so cute!!!!

A Bite
On Monday, the kidlets found a sore on Chaos' back leg when she rolled onto her back to have her tummy rubbed. I cleaned it and did so a couple of times throughout the day. Yesterday, it looked worse so I called the vet. Turns out she was bit by something. The vet thinks a spider. She had to cut, scrap and drain. It was very nasty looking and also infected. The vet also took samples to look at under the microscope.
Chaos was such a good girl. She didn't make a sound. I felt so bad for her.
The picture was taken last night using hubby's Blackberry. After Chaos laid down, Hubby covered her up. She stayed in that position for almost an hour. She doesn't like having the medicine put on her sore. What she doesn't realize is that the cheese ball I gave her had a antibiotic pill hidden inside.
This morning the sore looked a little better. She's acting more like her old self. Thank goodness. I just want her to feel better!

My life is a LOLcat

It's been kinda funny how I can usually find a LOLcat picture to go with what I wanted to blog about, but lately it's almost been Twilight Zone-ish. The pic above falls into this category considering I wrote my status message this morning on Facebook about Mondays!
But in spite of today being a Monday, something good did happen. My son had his first Little League game of the season. His team won. The game was called just as it started to hail. It rained off and on throughout. Needless to say I'm still cold from sitting out there for a couple of hours.

Kitty Wars Cont'd

It's almost been a year since Chaos arrived, but the battle to rid the McClone house of "the dog" continues. Action has been seen on all fronts since the feline troops have moved attacks to all sections of the house. Hissing, spitting and swatting, as well as actual hits, have been noted. Captain Spirit takes the lead in these. Stealth actions, led by Commander Smalls, have increased in frequency. Lt. Rocket has become a mastery of barricading leading to much doggy frustration.
It is hoped the intensity of the conflicts will decrease over time as the troops realize the futility of their efforts.

Yesterday

I had a great time with my friend Tiffany yesterday. We spent the entire day together. It was awesome.
Of course, she had her camera with her. Two actually. I'm amazed the pictures she takes in just one shot. She's a very gifted and talented photographer. She got some great ones of the kids and several of Chaos and me.
She also brought the most amazing chocolate dessert to have after our lunch (homemade pizza). We split one and it was totally decadent! So yummy!

Cleaning

My family is coming over for Easter. We'll be doing an egg hunt and having a ham dinner. Of course company, even family, means cleaning so that's what I've been trying to do. A little at a time, but since I don't like to clean and have been so tired, I've been doing very little.
Time to pick up the pace! I'm sure this lolcat pic will be me come Sunday morning!
As for my rub-addicted kitty...I was so tired Smalls could only wake me up once in the middle of the night. This morning though she head butted me awake so I would rub her. That I can handle.
I'm very excited because my good friend Tiffany (aka Angus' mommy) and her son are coming over this morning. They moved to England last year and are back in town visiting. I cannot wait to see them. I've missed her so much!

Smalls

I am having a hard time getting back on schedule. One of my cats, Smalls, who is normally the anti-social former outdoor kitty who came with our old house, now wants attention 24/7. Okay, not attention...she wants to be rubbed. She gets right in my face, purrs like an engine and will wake me up a few times a night.
I'm so tired. I need uninterrupted sleep. And she's not letting me get any.
I haven't managed a decent word on the new book. I usually write during Irish dance lessons in the afternoon and early evening, but there are none this week due to the World Championships going on right now in Philadelphia. So that means only night time writing, but by the the time the kidlets are in bed I just want to sleep. I even forgot to watch Castle on Monday I was that tired.
Smalls is older. 14, maybe. Possibly 15. She came to us so we really don't know. I've heard that sometimes when cats aren't feeling well, they want to be with you more. That was the Spirit when she got Hyper-T. I sure hope that's not the case with Smalls. She's due for her checkup so I need to make an appointment, sooner rather than later. In the meantime, I'll keep trying to give her the love she wants and hope she'll let me get a decent night's sleep!

This week

The kitties are happy our spring break is over. We went skiing again yesterday and enjoyed sunny, warm weather. But the cats don't like being left alone so as soon as I'm home they won't leave me alone. Endearing, yes. But the meowing for attention is a tad annoying. Especially in the middle of the night.
It's back to the normal schedule today. Lots on the agenda since I'm hosting my family for Easter which means cleaning and shopping. I need to catchup on my writing since I didn't get my 5000 words in this past week. I spoke with my agent on the way up to Mt. Hood on Thursday and gave her a date for my proposal to be due so I'm waiting to hear if it's okay. I've also got a meeting this morning at church to toss around some ideas for the First Communion retreat that's a couple of weeks away.
I was supposed to go climbing again today, but strained my achilles tendon yesterday. It's already feeling better today so I didn't do anything to it like the first time. Still not taking any chances! I'm also breaking up my squats into even shorter reps today just to be safe.
The temperature is supposed to hit high 70s! It's shorts and sunscreen weather. I hope the weather lasts until Easter! I love when we can have egg hunts outside!

TGIF

This was me yesterday! We went skiing again. It was freezing with the wind blowing the snow horizontal. The powder was awesome, but after an hour and a half the kids were ready to call it quits. We were all wet. They didn't even ask. Mackenna and Finn were on a chair ahead of us. As they skied off they went to the right. I asked where they were going. I got an, "We're done!"
I called hubby who was working at Timberline Lodge (they have free wi-fi right next to the big fireplace) so he went out to the car to get the ice chest with our lunches inside. Even though we didn't ski that long, it was still a great day. The runs we did get in were very fun.
On the way home, we stopped by The Huckleberry Inn in Government Camp for a little anniversary celebration. Donuts, maple bars and French fries! I fell asleep during the drive. Chaos slept on top of me the entire way. My ski bibs are covered in dog hair!
While hubby took the kids to Irish dance, I planned on working. I gave it my best shot, but see the picture above. That was me so I didn't quite get as much done as I hoped. At least I have a few more days to catchup until Monday's JaNoWriMo check in.

Fourteen Years Ago...
I got married!
Sorry for the totally self-indulgent post. Hubby rarely reads my blog, but I'm telling him to read it today because this LOLcat was selected especially for him!

We celebrated last night with a dinner out. My oldest received a gift card to The Spaghetti Factory, her fave restaurant, (along with the most beautiful pair of earrings an 11 year old should have!) for her birthday from my best friend Debbie and offered to take all five of us out to dinner as an anniversary gift since Thursday nights are spent at the Irish dance studio. It was a great time. And though they may know how to push every button and not always mind, hubby and I really have some special kidlets!

More skiing today. Snowflakes came down so hard it was difficult to see at times, but the snow was gorgeous to ski on. So much better than yesterday. We all had a great time. We skied twice as long as yesterday, but the kids were ready to call it quits. It was cold out there and various appendages were starting to bother them! It was time to hit the lodge and warm-up!
The only one not cold was Chaos. She was completely in her element with her fur covered with snowflakes. She bounded through the snow and didn't want to get back in the car. I took her for a final walk after dropping off all my gear. Unfortunately that included my jacket and gloves. By the time I got back to the minivan I was frozen. I had to use the defroster to warm up my fingers!
The fingers are now warm and toasty and crossed that we can go skiing again tomorrow.
